The “Obnoxious Hikers” as they call themselves are actually anything but obnoxious, though they’re known to speak freely. They began as a breakaway group stemming from one of the more restrictive 4k groups on Facebook. Truth be told, they’re incredibly supportive of various search and rescue organizations as well as trail work within the White Mountain National Forest and other NH locales.
Every year since their founding in 2015, they sponsor a fund-raising picnic. The proceeds from this event are distributed to individual SAR organizations in the state, AVSAR included. This year they raised $2500 of which AVSAR got 20%.
Over the years the Obnoxious Hikers have raised over $17,000 and in doing so have made a significant impact to the SAR and hiking communities. With these funds we and other SAR organizations are empowered to purchase the supplies needed to save lives. We’re extremely grateful as are the people in need of our aid. To the OH, we thank you!

About The Obnoxious Hikers
[…] We are a community of hikers from all over the world who share in the interest of hiking. Our members are not casual walk around the park and call that hiking hikers. We are mountaineers, backpackers, thru-hikers, hiking gear junkies, bushwhackers, and those that are into extreme and grueling hikes. We are a humorous, sarcastic, brash, supportive, and informative group of people. […]
